NJ Superintendent Resigns After Making Disturbing Comment About Student Who Committed Suicide and Her Father

Superintendent Triantafillos Parlapanides claimed, “I don’t believe a police report was done. We normally just suspend. If a parent wants to press charges, they can with the police. We’re not going to double-whammy a kid where they are suspended and then police charges as well.”

Michael Kuch demanded that justice be done for the way the attack on high school was handled.

Parlapanides – who reportedly makes $190,000 a year – attempted to defend his position by making eye-opening remarks about the deceased teen girl and her father.

Parlapanides said the Daily Mail, “After [Adriana’s] mother’s suicide since her father was having an affiar [sic] at the end of her 6th grade. Her father married the woman he had an affair with and moved her into the house.”

“Her grades and choices declined in 7th and 8th grade,” The superintendent spoke. “We offered her drug rehab and mental services on five occasions but father refused every time.”

Parlapanides alleged “We tried helping her several times but mother’s suicide was a major reason she started making poor choices.”

Kuch replied to claims made by the superintendent. “I don’t know how to respond to this insane deflection. This guy is a piece of s**t.”

Kuch explained to Daily Mail, Adriana’s mother died from addiction in 2015, when Adriana had just seven years old.

Kuch denied that Adriana was offered counseling for drug problems. Kuch said that he was trying help his daughter who had been using a vape pen to smoke marijuana.

Parlapanides resigned on Sunday – the same day as Adriana Kuch’s funeral.

The Central Regional School District Board of Education has accepted Dr. Triantafillos Parlapanides’ resignation. We continue to mourn the loss in Central Regional. We all offer our prayers for the family, their loved ones, and the entire community. All allegations of bullying are being investigated by the Central Regional School District. The Department of Education was contacted by the district. It will be conducting an independent assessment of its anti-bullying policies. This will ensure that every safeguard is in place to protect students and staff. Dr. Douglas Corbett has been appointed acting superintendent.

Three students were initially charged in connection with the February 1 incident with third-degree criminal assault. Another student was charged with disorderly behavior. Ocean County prosecutors elevated the charges. One girl was charged for aggravated attack, while two others were charged with conspiring to commit aggravated assault. Another was charged in harassment.
