GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley is determined to stay in the race and defeat Donald Trump to win the Republican primary.
Addressing a crowd of 50 people in South Carolina, Haley (R-S.C.) made it clear that she is not backing down.
“I’m not going anywhere,” Haley declared. “I’m not afraid to speak the hard truths. I don’t need to appease anyone. I have no fear of Trump’s retaliation. I’m not seeking anything from him. My own political future is of no concern.”
Many expected the former U.S. ambassador of the United Nations (UN) to announce her withdrawal from the presidential race during her “state of the race” address today.
However, she surprised everyone by using the opportunity to criticize her opponent, former President Donald Trump, and express her belief that another Trump presidency would be disastrous.
The South Carolina GOP primary is scheduled for Saturday, February 24th. Despite it being Haley’s home state, Trump is still leading in the polls. According to Emerson Polling, Trump is currently ahead with 61% to Haley’s 39%.
