Doctor Charged with Sexually Assaulting Male Patients
A shocking case has emerged in Newport Beach, Calif., where Dr. William Thompson IV, a specialist in LGBT healthcare, has been accused of sexually assaulting nine male patients during supposed medical examinations. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office made the announcement on Sept. 26.
Dr. Thompson, 56, from Huntington Beach, was charged on Sept. 21 with multiple felony counts, including sexual penetration through fraudulent representation, sexual battery by fraud, and forcible oral copulation. He is currently out on $100,000 bond and is set to be arraigned on Nov. 2 in Newport Beach.
The alleged assaults took place between 2016 and 2020, and Dr. Thompson was apprehended on Sept. 20 at his medical practice.
If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of 30 years to life in prison, with an additional 25 years. This information was provided by the District Attorney’s Office.
It is worth noting that Dr. Thompson was already on probation for a drunk driving conviction on Oct. 12, 2021, as per court records. He had pleaded guilty to driving under the influence on March 12, 2021.
His attorney in the DUI case, Gary Polston, expressed unawareness of the sexual assault charges and clarified that he is not representing Dr. Thompson in this matter.
