New Information Released in Investigation into Cause of Death for British Star Julian Sands
Exciting new developments have emerged in the investigation into the cause of death for beloved British star Julian Sands. Authorities have confirmed that the remains found by hikers in California’s Mt. Baldy area indeed belong to the talented actor.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE magazine, has officially listed the cause of death for the 65-year-old actor as ”undetermined” on his death certificate.
The Sheriff’s Public Information Officer explained that Sands’ cause of death was ruled “undetermined due to the condition of the body, which is common in cases like this.”
Discovery of Human Remains and Ongoing Search Efforts
The news of Julian Sands’ confirmed death comes after hikers stumbled upon human remains on June 27 in the same area where Sands had gone missing back in January.

The sheriff’s office initially reported on June 24 that hikers had discovered human remains in the Mt. Baldy wilderness and promptly contacted the Fontana Sheriff’s Station. The remains were then transported to the Coroner’s Office for identification.
Sands’ family expressed their gratitude to the sheriff’s office for resuming the search despite the challenging alpine conditions that had hindered efforts in previous months.
“We continue to hold Julian in our hearts with bright memories of him as a wonderful father, husband, explorer, lover of the natural world and the arts, and as an original and collaborative performer,” the family’s statement read.
The week before the sheriff’s department made the announcement, they had already initiated ongoing search efforts in the Mount Baldy wilderness to locate the missing star.
Since January, when Sands went missing after embarking on a hike, the agency has conducted eight ground and air searches, with over 500 volunteer searcher hours dedicated to the efforts.

Julian Sands, born in Yorkshire, England, rose to prominence in the 1980s and graced both the big and small screens with his talent. His notable works include “A Room With a View,” “The Killing Fields,” as well as appearances in popular TV shows like “24” and “Smallville.” Sands leaves behind a loving wife and three children.
