Are the Ukrainian Troops able to get hold of Iranian ammunition? – With Iran Expected to deliver a>=”https://www.19fortyfive.com/2022/12/putins-plan-russia-wants-swarms-of-missiles-from-iran-to-win-ukraine-war/”>short-range ballistic missiles Also see a-href=”https://www.19fortyfive.com/2022/11/irans-shahed-136-drone-killer-or-paper-tiger-in-ukraine/”>longer-range drones To Russia – though, now those deliveries may be delayed until October – the last place Iranian ammunition seemed likely to turn up is Ukraine.

Video footage However, speculations shared online over the past few days seem to suggest that ahref=”https://www.19fortyfive.com/2023/02/putin-will-be-angry-ukraine-is-getting-more-weapons-to-fight-russia/”>Ukrainian soldiers They may have been in possession of substantial quantities of Iranian-made ammunition.

What to make of Footage

Ukraine Weapons Tracker shares a video clip Ukrainian troops Handling and preparation Tank ammunition.

Soldiers take the ahref=”https://www.19fortyfive.com/2023/01/himars-the-rocket-weapon-putin-fears-in-ukraine/”>projectilesPrepare them and then start loading them into a tank.

Ukraine Weapons Tracker points out that the HEFRAG projectiles in the video are not the real thing. Iranian-made 125mm OF19 – a kind of ammunition that can be used with virtually every kind of Ukrainian tank.

“Ukrainian troops filming the preparation of tank ammo- nothing special at first glance, but the HE-FRAG projectile in the soldier’s hands is, in fact, Iranian 125mm OF19 which can be used with almost all Ukrainian tanks,” Ukraine Weapons Tracker writes.

Online detectives were able identify the rockets based on their packaging. This packaging is used for ammunition made in Iran.

Projectiles also reveal their identity by the black fins and rear sections on each rocket.

Ukraine Weapons Tracker posted a tweet showing that the boxes of ammunition seen in the video are the same as other photos. Iranian ammunition.

Although Iran provided Russia previously with a number of attack drones, delays in the delivery of ammunition and other equipment could be a problem for Russia at a time that Ukraine is receiving advanced weapons and machinery.

The Kremlin is also affected by the fact that Russian forces are in the process to launch a new offensive from East.

Who sent the ammunition?

It is unclear how the ammunition ended up in Ukraine. However, it seems likely that a third-party purchased the ammunition and sent it to Ukraine.

Ukraine Weapons Tracker suggested that the weapons could have been intended originally for the Houthi movement of Yemen.

“As far as any public evidence shows, the Houthis (often quoted as a source of Iranian weapons in Ukraine) have not been using any of this ammunition- nor has any been seized on the way to Yemen,” Ukraine Weapons Tracker notes.

19FortyFive was unable to verify the authenticity.
