Last week, Russia and China joined forces for a major military exercise off the coast of Alaska, marking the largest flotilla to approach American shores, according to experts cited by the Wall Street Journal.
Amidst the ongoing war in Ukraine and tensions surrounding Taiwan, this move is seen as highly provocative and unprecedented. The 11-ship force remained in international waters and was not considered a direct threat, as stated by U.S. Northern Command.
Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan of Alaska expressed his concern and anger at the joint exercise, emphasizing the need for a strong response to authoritarian aggression.
