Netanyahu says Israel should draw US financial support ‘down to zero’

Israeli Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a *60 Minutes* interview that he wants to begin promptly reducing U.S. financial support for Israel’s military-eventually drawing the “financial component” down to zero during the current Congress rather than waiting for the next one. He argued Israel should “wean” itself from remaining military assistance, noting the country receives $3.8 billion annually.

Netanyahu also reiterated that Iran must not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon, and referenced Trump telling him that the U.S. wants to “go in” to take Iran’s enriched uranium. His remarks came as the war with Iran continues and the same day that trump rejected Iran’s latest peace proposal as “totally unacceptable.”
