Netanyahu mocks United Kingdom as ‘Islamic Republic of Britain’
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized the United Kingdom during a recent interview, comparing the British Isles to Iran and suggesting that Britain has experienced a decline in support for Israel reminiscent of the past support from Winston Churchill’s era. Netanyahu remarked that Britain is now akin to an “Islamic Republic of Britain” due to cultural changes and mass immigration from Islamic countries, which he claims threaten European societies. He noted that Europe is facing issues related to unchecked immigration, with recent polls showing widespread public opposition to increasing migration levels across several European countries, including Britain,France, and Germany.
Additionally, Danish prime Minister Mette Frederiksen characterized immigration, especially from Islamic nations, as Europe’s greatest threat, citing concerns over terror and societal values. She emphasized that both external enemies like Russia and internal threats from certain immigrant communities pose notable challenges to European stability. the debate over immigration reform is ongoing across Europe, with right-wing parties gaining influence, even though recent political shifts – such as leadership changes in the UK Labour Party – have altered voter support patterns.

“All the Europeans, all of Europe has already become like that, hasn’t it?” the host asked in response.
Netanyahu replied: “Yes, but you know, someone said the first Islamic republic with nuclear weapons will be the Islamic Republic of Britain. We’re making sure there won’t be another one — you know, in Iran.”
Last year, Netanyahu commented that Europe is in the process of being “conquered by unchecked immigration” from Islamic countries and blamed a cultural change for the decline of support from the Old Continent.
Mass immigration from Islamic countries into Europe has become one of the most prominent issues on the continent, regularly topping public surveys on issues driving voters.
A YouGov poll conducted last month showed immigration was among the top three political issues for voters in all countries polled: Britain, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
A previous YouGov poll conducted in December found that citizens residing in Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, and Spain are overwhelmingly opposed to increasing the number of new migrants entering their countries. A majority from each country also voiced support for “admitting no more new migrants, and requiring large numbers of migrants who came to [respondent country] in recent years to leave.”
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, a center-left politician who rose to power with a platform decrying mass immigration, made a scorching statement on Friday that characterized immigration — particularly from Islamic countries — as the greatest threat facing Europe.
“If we talk about undemocratic forces, yes, then Russia is our biggest enemy,” Frederiksen said. “The problem is that a major enemy has started to grow from within, and it is foreigners who have come to Europe. It is Hamas supporters. It is people who commit terror against European societies. It is people who do not recognise our fundamental European values.”
“So Europe is threatened,” she said. “The problem is that we are threatened both from outside and now from within. … Because of people with an Islamic background who do not want the open, free European society. Unfortunately.”
Lack of progress on immigration reform has thrust right-wing parties into the spotlight in major European Union members such as the National Rally in France and Alternative für Deutschland in Germany.
Reform UK, the right-wing anti-immigration party in the U.K. led by Nigel Farage, was undisputedly leading voter intention polls for months — but the recent change-up of leadership in Labour has buoyed the left-wing party’s support.
