NBC’s Top Exec Gets the Boot for Inappropriate Relationship with Female Colleague

NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell has stepped down from his position due to an “inappropriate relationship” with a female employee within the company. Comcast, NBC’s parent company, released a statement on Sunday announcing the change, which will take effect immediately. According to the statement, an investigation led by outside counsel into a complaint of inappropriate conduct was conducted, leading to Shell’s departure. In a statement of his own, Shell admitted to the relationship and expressed regret for letting down his colleagues. There is currently no word on who will replace Shell as CEO. Comcast President Mike Cavanagh will oversee Shell’s team in the interim. In a joint statement, Cavanagh and Comcast CEO Brian Roberts emphasized the importance of trust and integrity in the workplace.
