NBA roundup: Nets stun Celts with NBA’s biggest comeback of season


Mikal Bridges was the top scorer with 38 points. The visiting Brooklyn Nets overcome a 28 point deficit to beat the Boston Celtics, 115 to 105, on Friday night.

Bridges hit 13 of his 22 field goal attempts, which included four 3-pointers. Additionally, he had 10 rebounds as well as four assists.

Cam Johnson scored 20 points to help the Nets. Dorian Finney Smith and Spencer Dinwiddie each contributed 17 points. Centre Nic Claxton was the team’s best scorer with 12 rebounds.

Jaylen Brown was the leading scorer for Boston with 35 points. The team was only held to 41 in the second period. Jayson Tatum (25 years old) finished the match with 22 points and 13 boards. However, he failed to make all eight 3-point attempts.

Julius Randle scored a game-high 43 points — including a go-ahead, off-balance 3-pointer with 1.7 seconds left — as visiting New York won its eighth straight game, defeating Miami.

The reigning Eastern Conference Player-of-the Month for the Knicks, Jalen Brunson was the Knicks’ point guard. He had 25 points as well as a record eight assists. New York’s Immanuel Quiley was the best player on the bench with 21 points.

Jimmy Butler led Miami with 33 points. Miami has now lost six of seven previous games. New York’s longest streak of wins this season was equaled by Miami, which won from Dec. 4 through 20.

Hawks 129, Trail Blazers 111

Dejounte and Murray combined for a team record 41 points in Atlanta’s win against Portland. Quin Snyder was awarded his first victory as a coach with their new team.

Murray scored 23 points in Friday’s first period, surpassing his January 30th high of 40 at Portland. Murray was 17 for 22 from the field. He also shot 5-for-5 (3-point range) and had six assists.

Damian Lillard led Portland with 33 points and eight assists. Cam Reddish had 25 points and Jeremi grant scored 14. The Blazers are currently in their third consecutive loss and have dropped five of their six previous games.

Suns 125 and Bulls 104

Devin Booker had 35 points, and Josh Okogie had 25. This was Chicago’s 14th victory in 19 games.

Booker made 12 of 24 shots from the floor — including 6 of 10 from 3-point range. On Nov. 30, Booker tore through Chicago scoring 51 points. Kevin Durant played his second Suns match and recorded 20 points. He moved past Oscar Robertson (26.710) to 13th in NBA history. Durant also had six assists and nine rebounds.

DeMar DeRozan of Chicago sank thirteen out of 18 floor shots to record 31 points. Zach LaVine scored 27 points, while Nikola Vucevic added 13 points and nine assists for the Bulls. They have now lost eight of 11 previous games.

Nuggets 113, Grizzlies97

Nikola Jokic recorded 18 points and 18 rebounds, as well as 10 assists in his 25th season-high triple-double. This was after Denver beat Memphis.

Jamal Murray was 22-points and had nine assists. This led to a strong fourth quarter by the Nuggets who took a six-game lead in Western Conference over second-place Grizzlies. Rudy Gobert was 22-points and had 14 rebounds. Anthony Edwards scored 19 points for Minnesota, beating Los Angeles.

Minnesota has now won two consecutive games after the three-game skid. Naz Reid had 15 points, and eight rebounds. Mike Conley was able to score five of his fourteen points in the last 13 seconds, which helped secure the win.

Anthony Davis scored 38 points for the Lakers on 12-of-22 shooting. Also, he was 12 of 14 at the foul line. Davis grabbed five rebounds and made two 3-pointers.

Thunder 130, Jazz 103

Aaron Wiggins, who scored 27 points during the season, and 17 in quarter four, helped Oklahoma City defeat visiting Utah.

Josh Giddey scored 18 points and had 13 assists as well as six rebounds. Jalen Williams added 20. At least 17 points were scored by five different Oklahoma City players.

The Jazz have lost back-to-back basketball games but never led. Lauri Markkanen, who scored 20 points in Utah, added 10 rebounds.

Clippers 128, Kings 128, Kings 127

De’Aaron Fox scored 33 points and had seven rebounds as well as seven assists. Sacramento won their fifth consecutive game against Los Angeles.

Domantas Sabonis scored 23 points and added 10 rebounds, seven assists, and made two free throws in the final seven seconds to give the Kings the lead. Warriors 108; Pelicans 99

Klay Thompson was able to score a record 27 points. Golden State pulled out its come from behind feats once more, beating New Orleans in San Francisco.

Donte D’Vincenzo delivered three major plays in the final stretch, as the Warriors (playing without Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins) completed a 5-0 homestand, continuing their climb up the Western Conference standings.

Jonathan Kuminga was a Golden State bench player and contributed 19 points, seven boards, four steals, and seven rebounds. CJ McCollum scored a record 25 points for the team, while Brandon Ingram had 17 to add for the Pelicans. They lost their fifth consecutive game in six, as the Pelicans are still dealing with injury concerns for several of their key players including Zion Williamson.
