NBA roundup: 76ers snuff Bucks’ 16-game winning streak


James Harden scored 38 points and had nine rebounds as well as 10 assists for the Philadelphia 76ers, who rallied from an 18 point deficit to win the game with 133-130.

Joel Embiid scored 31 points with 10 assists. TyreseMaxey had 26 points for Philadelphia. Philadelphia beat Milwaukee, 48 to 31, in the fourth quarter. Brook Lopez was the Bucks’ leading scorer with 26 points. Jrue holiday added 26 points to his total, while Giannis Antetokounmpo had 34 points. Grayson Allen hit six 3-pointers to finish with 20 points.

Milwaukee was leading by 18 at the end of the third quarter, but Philadelphia scored a 23-9 win to tie it at 108 in the fourth period.

Antetokounmpo had converted two foul shots at 1:43 to tie the Bucks’ lead 125 to 121. Harden, Embiid and Maxey hit three consecutive 3-pointers for Philadelphia to take its first lead in the quarter. Maxey converted two foul shots with 25 seconds remaining to increase Philadelphia’s lead by four. The Sixers then scored their last four foul shots for the win.

Timberwolves 138, Kings 134

Anthony Edwards was able to score a record-breaking 27 points for the team and responded to Sacramento’s threat with two key hoops in two minutes. The win allowed Minnesota, which had been visiting Minnesota, to beat the Kings.

Rudy Gobert, De’Aaron Fox and Edwards traded hoops. Edwards made the first of his big buckets with a 1:51 left to play layup that turned into a 3-point play after he was fouled in the end by Kevin Huerter. After the Kings countered with another Domantas Sabonis basket to pull within two, they had a chance to tie it and move ahead. Fox failed to connect with Fox on a driving layup, and Harrison Barnes made a three-pointer after an offensive rebound five seconds later.

Edwards made it 136-132 in Timberwolves’ favor with an interior basket that lasted 33 seconds. Gobert was able to score a 13-point and 14-rebound double for the visitors. Huerter made six of nine attempts at 3-point shooting, and scored a game-high 29 point for the Kings. This was after a streak of five consecutive wins.

Raptors 116, Wizards 109 (OT)

Fred VanVleet made two 3-pointers in overtime and finished with 25 points — adding 10 assists — as visiting Toronto defeated Washington.

Gary Trent Jr. was able to score 26 points from the bench for Raptors who won the Washington set. Kristaps porzingis had 22 points and 11 rebound for the Wizards. They also committed 24 turnovers. Bradley Beal had 21 points, 10 assists and a team score of 103.

Toronto was reduced to one by Kyle Kuzma’s free throws at 1:00 in overtime. VanVleet made the decisive third 3-pointer in overtime. Trent’s jumper put Toronto five points ahead with just 2:43 remaining in regulation. Porzingis responded with a dunk, and Delon Wright’s 3 pointer tied the game at105. There was still time to go to the extra period.

Cavaliers 114; Pistons 90

Darius Garland scored 21 points, seven assists, while Donovan Mitchell contributed 20 points for host Cleveland’s victory over Detroit.

Garland made 8 of 11 shots from the floor — including 5 of 6 from 3-point range — to help the Cavaliers complete a four-game season sweep of the Pistons. Jarrett Allen added 15 points to the score, while Mitchell was playing his 400th career game. After the end of the fourth quarter, Cleveland led by 105 to 70 after Ricky Rubio, Evan Mobley and Danny Green scored three points each. The Cavaliers weren’t seriously endangered the remainder of the game.

Marvin Bagley III had 20 and 13 rebounds respectively, while Hamidou Diallo scored 14 points for Detroit. Detroit was devoid of Bojan Bogdanovic (bilateral tendinopathy), the leading scorer. This season, Bogdanovic averages 21.6 points per match.

Hawks 109 and Heat 117

Bam Adebayo led Miami to victory with 30 points and 11 rebound to expand its lead on Atlanta in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Tyler Herro scored 20 points for Miami, making three of its 13 3-point baskets. He also had six rebounds, five assists and five rebounds. Caleb Martin, Jimmy Butler, and Caleb Martin each had 15 points. Butler also added 11 rebounds to his total and eight assists. Heat remains in seventh in Eastern Conference, and their advantage over Atlanta (8th) is 1 1/2.

Saddiq, who was on the bench for four of his 3-pointers and scored 22 points in Atlanta, led Atlanta. Clint Capela was able to record a double-double with 16 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists. Dejounte Murray scored 10 points. Trae Young was only able to score eight points.

Rockets 122, Spurs 110

Tarieson was able to score a record-breaking 20 points for Houston. She was one of eight double-digit scorers. Houston ended an 11-game losing streak by beating San Antonio on the road.

Eason had five rebounds and added two steals to the Rockets’ bench. Josh Christopher added 14 points and Usman Garuba scored 11 off the bench. Houston received double-doubles by Alperen Sengun (16 points, 10 rebound) and Kenyon Mart Jr. (14,5 points, 13 rebound), respectively. The Spurs will be hosting Houston on Sunday.

Devonte Graham scored 28 points for the Spurs on 7-of-12 3 point shooting. Jeremy Sochan and Zach Collins — who grabbed 10 boards — scored 14 points apiece for the Spurs, who were without Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson.
