A New York judge sentenced a Bangladeshi immigrant to life in prison plus 30 years for setting off a pipe bomb in New York’s busiest subway station.
Akayed Ullah immigrated to the US in 2011. Six years later, he carried out an Islamic jihadist attack using a pipe bomb in Times Square Station. He said he opposed Trump’s policies.

31-year-old Akayed Ullah learned his fate Thursday after carrying out the 2017 attack under the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Times Square on behalf of ISIS. Ullah was severely burned after the bomb taped to his chest barely exploded and left others near him with minor injuries.

The judge said he carried out a heinous plot to kill as many people as possible and his sentence is a “just” punishment for the crime. Fortunately, there was no loss of life as a result of the terrorist attack.
