“Speaker Pelosi did boot people off the committee. That is where it started,” Melber stated this on his program. “You can say for better reasons, but once you go down the road of saying you’re going to police committees this way, I do think it gets to really difficult tradeoffs.”

Surprisingly Melber agreed with both sides. Melber first noted that Omar was guilty of making antisemitic remarks, but then she also agreed that Omar was being targeted because of her looks.

Melber, however, reiterated that Democrats had established this standard.

“The third thing can be true — and this is where you know you might lose some people — but the third thing that can be true is: It was the Democrats who erected a new standard in the last Congress to boot people off a committee,” He stated. “Different reasons, but the third thing is true.”

In fact, there were some Democrats who existed before Omar’s departure from the Foreign Affairs Committee. Regret that Their party ignored institutional norms. They set a new precedent for 2021 with the removal of Greene’s and Gosar’s committee assignments.
