Eduardo and Sadie Martinez, the accused couple, maintained ⁤that⁣ race played a role in ⁣Sorensen’s allegations.

According​ to Sorensen’s account ‌to the police, the couple trailed her ⁢as she pushed her children in a stroller⁤ towards her car in the‌ parking lot. She ‌claimed ⁣they made comments⁢ about her children’s appearances and lingered⁢ near her ⁢vehicle as she secured her children inside.

However, Sorensen later posted a video on social media, including additional information that she had not initially disclosed to the⁢ police. The Petaluma Police Department noted this discrepancy.

“I heard them⁢ talking about the features of my children, ‌but I was totally paralyzed ⁣with fear,” Sorensen confessed during an interview with KTVU-TV ‌at the time ‌of the incident. “I just couldn’t bring myself to say anything.”

The Martinezes’ lawyer⁣ highlighted the racial ⁢dynamics at⁤ play, emphasizing that “you have two Latinx people accused by a white woman.”

Turgeon revealed that her ‌daughter’s‍ initial report to ⁣the police mentioned ‌a “Caucasian” ‍couple, raising questions about the ⁤investigation’s handling of the racial aspects of the case.
