Mohammad Anwar’s Alleged Teenage Murderers Reach Plea Deal, Will Not Be ‘Held Past The Age Of 21’ Or ‘Placed In A Prison Facility’

According to reports, the two teenage girls charged with the felony murder of a 66-year-old Uber Eats driver in Washington, D.C. have reached a plea deal that will ensure they avoid detention in prison facilities and will not be held past the age of 21.

“Two girls, ages 13 and 15, who were charged with the murder and carjacking of a Pakistani immigrant killed last month while working at his job delivering food in Washington, D.C., have reportedly reached a plea deal with prosecutors,” the Daily Mail reported.

“On Monday, the teens reportedly reached the plea deal with prosecutors that would ensure they will not be held past the age of 21 nor be placed in a prison facility,” the report continued.

Mohammad Anwar was killed in southeast Washington, D.C., when he was thrown from his vehicle after the two teenage girls allegedly assaulted him with a Taser and stole his car, causing it to flip.

This past weekend, The Washington Post reported that lawyers for the two teenage girls charged as juveniles “will soon receive plea-bargain offers from a prosecutor,” while “a trial in the case remains possible, if not likely, according to discussions in court Wednesday.”

“Appearing via video in D.C. Superior Court for the second time since the deadly incident occurred March 23, the girls, 13 and 15, looked on silently as defense lawyers and a prosecutor from the D.C. attorney general’s office talked about the next steps in the case with Judge Lynn Leibovitz,” The Washington Post reported.

“The prosecutor, Bonnie Lindemann, gave no indication that her office is contemplating an attempt to transfer the older girl’s case to adult court, as D.C. law would allow under certain circumstances. As for the younger girl, she could not be prosecuted as an adult in the District for any crime because of her age,” the report continued.

According to D.C. law, the 13-year-old girl cannot be prosecuted as an adult. It is possible for the 15-year-old to be transferred to adult court. According to the most recent reports, however, both teenage girls will be released by the time they are 21 years old, and neither will be placed in a prison facility.

This effectively means that the youngest girl will spend no longer than 8 years in any form of facility, while the oldest girl will be released after just six years, at the very most.

The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh reacted to the report on Twitter, writing “The two killers of Mohammed Anwar getting a plea deal that avoids prison time is a perfect example of both female privilege and black privilege. No way in hell does a white male teenager who murders a Pakistani immigrant get a deal like that, especially in DC.”

Mohammad Anwar, who was working as an Uber Eats driver at the time of his death, was a father and grandfather with loved ones in both the U.S. and Pakistan, according to his family, who described the crime as “senseless.”

“He was a hardworking immigrant who came to the U.S. in 2014 to build a better life for himself and his family,” his family said in a statement. “The loss for his family is immeasurable.”
