Modernizing the Game: MLB Permanently Installs Extra Innings Automatic Baserunner on Second

OutKick videos

Major League Baseball is hated by baseball purists A new rule was established Teams place a runner on the second base to start the inning in the 10th inning. The MLB extra innings automated baserunner isn’t going away.

The goal is to limit extra innings in regular-season games. This rule is not applicable to playoff games.

It is a great idea. While it’s fun to see a game in the 18th inning from the comfort of your couch, the reality is that baseball games are long. Additionally, these games often run through bullpen arms, which can cause teams to lose.

There’s just no need to do that, especially during a 162-game season when single games are generally of minor consequence.

Before I go on, let me just say that I want to take a quick tangent. Please stop referring to the runner as “the” for the love and honor of God. “ghost runner.” Back in the day, when you played ball with your buddies, there generally weren’t enough players to bat and run the bases.

This is how the “ghost runner” Oder “ghosty” The runner was theoretically kept alive in situations where there were no human beings on the bases.

Major League Baseball has a second base runner. A ghost. It is a real human being.

Und, “ghosty” The player represented had already achieved that base. The rules place this player there. This player is placed there because of the rules in multiple ways. “ghost runner.” Stop calling him that.

Tangent over.

MLB now embraces modern times by adding extra innings for baserunners

While I was a baseball player growing up, I never believed that the rules should be changed. “that’s the way it’s always been.” I don’t go to games to watch pitchers hit. The Universal DH was long overdue.

I’m also not sitting through a 6-hour game in the middle of July. I have no issues with the automatic runners.

Robot umps? Good. You need to make sure you get your calls right. The only reason we know Angel Hernandez’ name is because he’s bad at his job.

We need guys like Angel Hernandez to have less impact on MLB games, not more.

The strike zone is an important factor in every pitch of a game of baseball. It’s more important to baseball than practically any rule in any sport. Yet, it’s the one we allow the most human control. Nonsense.

Call the games correctly, make the games shorter and let the hitters strike.

Baseball is the new era.

It’s about time.
