According to their family, a Florida partners who went to Haiti to attend sick family members was kidnapped and is reportedly being held for ransom.

The 33-year-old Abigail and Jean-Dickens Toussaint were on their way to Leogan, which is about 27 miles north of Port-au-Prince, but they never made it.

They haven’t been heard from since March 18th.

Their sister Christie Desormes, 22, reported to the media that her aunt and uncle had been kidnapped after being dragged off a vehicle. The couple had only intended to stay in Haiti for four decades while attending to their sick friends.

According to Desormes,” They came to a start, asked for Americans and their escort to exit the vehicle, and then they took them.”

The kidnappers, according to the family, changed their demands after paying more than$ 2,000 of the$ 6,000 ransom demanded.

There are many feelings involved. It’s a catastrophe. Desormes remarked,” You feel angry that it happened, and now you feel cold at the same time because it doesn’t feel authentic.

Their daughter advised people to contact their state legislators and ask for more help in finding her aunt and uncle.

The State Department acknowledged receiving reports that two Americans were missing in Haiti in a statement released on Sunday.

The safety and security of American citizens worldwide is of the utmost importance to the U.S. Department of State and our embassies and consulates. We are aware of reviews of two American citizens going missing in Haiti. When a U.S. citizen goes missing, we work directly with the local authorities to conduct their research efforts and, to the extent possible, share content with families. At this time, we have nothing more to say, according to a representative for the State Department.

The First Haitian Baptist Church of Pompano Beach blogged about the Toussaints on Wednesday and urged its members to offer prayers for the British couple.

The chapel declared that in addition to our blessings, we are urging our government representatives to use their authority to return these two to us.

Attendees were encouraged to consider and beg for the missing partners at the huge” meditation program” that the First Baptist Church of Pompano Beach organized on Friday evening.
