‘Miserable’: Ben Affleck Reveals What Almost Made Him Quit Hollywood

Ben Affleck claimed that he was “miserable” During the filming “Justice League,” He said it almost forced him to quit Hollywood.

“[‘Justice League’] made me go, ‘I’m out,'” Affleck said so to the outlet. “I never want to do any of this again. I’m not suited.”

“That was the worst experience I’ve ever seen in a business which is full of some sh***y experiences,” He concluded. “It broke my heart.”

“And I started to drink too much,” The actor continued. “I was back at the hotel in London, it was either that or jump out the window. And I just thought, ‘This isn’t the life I want. My kids aren’t here. I’m miserable.'”

Zach Snyder, who was originally in charge of the DC movie’s production, left the film during production because of a death in his immediate family. Joss Whedon was able to step in, but Affleck stated that it only made matters worse.

“There was an idea of someone [Whedon] coming in, like, ‘I’ll rescue you and we’ll do 60 days of shooting and I’ll write a whole thing around what you have. I’ve got the secret,'” The “Good Will Hunting” Star said. “And it wasn’t the secret. That was hard.”

According to reports, Affleck stated that DC would approach him right now to ask him to direct a movie. As DC Studios’ heads, Peter Safran and Gunn recently assumed control.

“I would not direct something for the [James] Gunn DC,” Affleck stated. “Absolutely not.”

“I have nothing against James Gunn,” He concluded. “Nice guy, sure he’s going to do a great job. I just wouldn’t want to go in and direct in the way they’re doing that. I’m not interested in that.”

The “Deep Water” Jennifer Garner was Jennifer’s first wife for over a decade. The couple has three children. Lopez and Affleck rekindled romance in 2021. In July 2022, they finally tied the knot at a chapel in Las Vegas. This was 18 years after their first engagement.
