Mike Pompeo: Biden Showed Complete Lack of Leadership in Failing to Address China in State of the Union

After a Chinese spy balloon flew for almost a week over the heads of Americans, President Biden was able to send a strong message to China in his State of the Union address. Unfortunately, Once again, the president chose not to lead. 

Instead, he emphasized issues such as climate change, abortion, and the Junk Fee Protection Act over China. The president’s apologists, like Sen. Chuck Schumer, have claimed Biden’s focus was on “the average working family and their concerns, their dreams, their hopes.” 

This misses the point. There is no greater threat to American families than external threats Rather than the actions taken by the Chinese Communist Party. 

Consider the opioid crisis that has plagued our country for many years. While conveniently leaving out that his own administration’s failures are to blame for our porous southern border, Biden did manage to acknowledge it must be better secured if we are to Stop the deadly flow of fentanyl in our towns and cities.

It is important to be clear: The opioid crisis doesn’t start in Mexico. It begins in China.

America’s greatest leaders, from George Washington to Ronald Reagan, understood that weakness breeds aggression. Instead of establishing deterrence, President Biden sent a message to the Chinese Communist Party by showing deference to their adversaries. 

The American people deserved to hear the truth about the threat the CCP poses to all of us; Biden’s State of the Union failed to deliver.
