Michelle Obama releases behind-the-scenes footage of presidential center

Michelle Obama shared behind-the-scenes footage of a reunion of all the living former first couples, filmed at the opening of the Barack Obama Presidential Center in Chicago. The video features the Bushes, Clintons, and Bidens socializing before the ceremony, with Donald Trump notably absent. Michelle expressed gratitude for her friends’ support and shared moments with other former leaders, including discussions about Chicago landmarks and personal anecdotes. The ceremony was attended by various politicians, media personalities, and celebrities, and the center, which includes a museum, public library, and outdoor spaces, officially opened to the public on Juneteenth. The footage concludes with the former first couples posing for a photo together.

Former first lady Michelle Obama pulled back the curtain on a rare reunion of all the living former first couples, sharing behind-the-scenes footage of the group socializing ahead of the opening of the Barack Obama Presidential Center.

The video showed the Bushes, Clintons, and Bidens catching up before the official ceremony began. President Donald Trump was not invited to the ceremony.

“It was such a joy getting to spend time with Joe and Jill, George and Laura, and Bill and Hillary last week,” Michelle Obama said in the post. “Barack and I will always be grateful for your constant friendship and support of our family over the years.”

In addition to the former first couples, other politicians, media personalities, and celebrities attended the June 18 dedication ceremony. The center officially opened to the public a day later, coinciding with Juneteenth.

The 19.3-acre presidential center is located on the South Side of Chicago in Jackson Park and comprises a museum, a new branch of the Chicago Public Library, and outdoor space.

The video opens with former President George W. Bush giving Michelle Obama an Altoids container, in which the former first lady said it was their “mint exchange.”

In the video Michelle Obama posted, she and former President Barack Obama are seen pointing out various Chicago areas to the other former first couples.

Michelle, who grew up on the South Side of Chicago, explained to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton where she spent her childhood, saying the presidential center is about “10 blocks” away.

Barack Obama showed Bush where the University of Chicago is located from where they were, prompting Michelle to enter the conversation, saying that their daughters, Malia and Sasha, were born at the university’s hospital.
