‘May We All Today Sing For Olivia’: Actress Kate Hudson Belts Out Newton-John Tune In Touching Tribute

Actress Kate Hudson shared a video of herself belting out “Hopelessly Devoted to You” — a song made famous by the late actress and singer Olivia Newton-John, who just passed away at the age of 73 following a long battle with breast cancer.

In the video, Hudson cradled her 3-year-old daughter Rani Rose — whom she shares with fiancé Danny Fujikawa — and rocked her as she sang.

“Olivia Newton-John,” Hudson began the caption to her video tribute with heart emojis.

“There are a handful of people in my life who inspired me to lock myself in my bedroom and sing from the top of my lungs in the mirror,” Hudson added. “Mimicking every move she made, wishing I could hit those clean high notes and striving to try with my little rasp. What a lovely light of a human. She was an inspiration to me as I dreamed of what my performers life ahead may be. Thank you for sharing your light to the world as it moved and shaped little girls like me. May we all today sing for Olivia and celebrate her courageous years of fighting. Love and Light.”

Hudson was just one of many to share her thoughts about the passing of the iconic “Grease” star. Actor John Travolta, who played “Danny Zuko” opposite Newton-John’s “Sandy,” also penned a heartfelt statement acknowledging her loss.

“My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!” the actor wrote in an Instagram post.

Travolta also lost his own wife of nearly three decades, actress Kelly Preston, after a quiet battle with breast cancer just two years ago in July of 2020.

“It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer,” Travolta said via Instagram at the time. “She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many. My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side. Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered. I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while.  But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal. All my love, JT.”
