Matthew McConaughey Says Woody Harrelson Might Be His Biological Brother: ‘There’s Possible Receipts’
During an episode of Kelly Ripa’s podcast, “Let’s Talk Off Camera,” Matthew McConaughey chatted about his new Apple TV+ series, “Brother From Another Mother,” and made a surprising claim. McConaughey believes that his close friend and fellow actor Woody Harrelson could actually be his biological brother.
The idea first came up when McConaughey’s mom talked about knowing Harrelson’s father while in Greece. She didn’t elaborate on the details, but it made McConaughey curious about his family history. After doing some math, they realized that Harrelson’s father was on furlough at the same time that McConaughey’s parents were going through their second divorce, which creates the possibility of a biological connection.
Despite this, McConaughey is hesitant to take a DNA test to confirm the relationship. He acknowledged that it’s a lot easier for Harrelson, who has nothing to lose by finding out, to suggest it. McConaughey, however, has a little more “skin in the game.”
Whether or not they are related by blood, McConaughey and Harrelson have a close bromance, and they are each called “Uncle” by the other’s children.
