Matt Bevin arrested while performing as extra on Christian film set
Former Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin was arrested on contempt-of-court charges in Kentucky and taken to Louisville’s Jefferson County jail. The arrest was due to a live bench warrant issued after a judge found Bevin in contempt for failing to provide his financial records in a divorce and child support case. Bevin, who served as governor from 2015 to 2019, was working as an extra on a Christmas film set near Lexington when law enforcement detained him. The court issue stems from Bevin’s refusal to disclose his financial documents,unlike his ex-wife who complied. The judge had ordered Bevin to pay a fine and disclose financial information, but he did not, leading to the warrant. Bevin has not sought public office as losing his re-election bid in 2019.

Bourbon County law enforcement arrested Bevin on Thursday while he was in Paris, Kentucky, working as an extra in a Christmas movie being filmed on a horse farm about 20 miles outside Lexington, according to Louisville Public Media.
The Republican politician served as governor of Kentucky from 2015 to 2019, before losing his reelection bid to current Gov. Andy Beshear (D-KY).
Bevin’s arrest stems from a court battle over his 2023 divorce from his ex-wife, Glenna Bevin, and a proceeding over whether the two owe their estranged, adopted son, Jonah Bevin, 19, child support.
In late July, Matt Bevin skipped an in-person hearing in the child support case while his warrant stood, unsuccessfully attempting to join the hearing over Zoom. The hearing was the latest in-person court meeting he missed.
While Glenna Bevin complied with the court and turned over her financial statements in the case, Matt Bevin did not, leading the Louisville-area family court judge to issue a warrant in June.

Jefferson County family court judge Angela Johnson issued the warrant on the condition that Matt Bevin would be booked for 60 days unless he turns over a $500 fine and all of the court-requested financial documents, according to the Kentucky Lantern.
Matt Bevin has not run for public office since he lost his 2019 re-election bid to Beshear by a 0.4 percentage-point margin.
