Marianne Williamson Accuses DNC of ‘Rigging’ Primary System in Favor of Biden
Marianne Williamson was the first Democrat who challenged President Joe Biden in the 2024 primaries. She accused the Democratic National Committee of being a liar. “rigging” Biden was nominated.
Her Sunday broadcast on ABC was a live appearance. “This Week,” Williamson lashed out at the DNC’s decision to push back Iowa and New Hampshire in order for South Carolina (where Biden won comfortably) as the first nominee state in 2024.
Biden’s plan was adopted last month by the DNC at its winter meeting. South Carolina is the first state that will host the Democratic Presidential Primaries. Nevada and New Hampshire follow three days later. In the traditional 50-year history, Iowa was the first state to host the primaries. New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina were next.
“I can tell you that New Hampshirites are not happy about that,” Williamson is a self-help author of 70 years who unsuccessfully ran for the presidency in 2020.
“The DNC should not be rigging this system,” Elle continued. “They don’t even pretend anymore. They’re not even covert about their swaying the primary season. They’re very overt about it.”
Williamson answered the question “The president” when Williamson was asked whether she would like to debate Biden. “certainly should” Debate her and then let the voters choose who should be nominated.
“It should be the voters who decide. It should not be the DNC that decides,” She argued. “It should be the voters who decide. That is what a democracy is.”
Biden is currently the oldest President in American history at 82 years old. Williamson did not say whether Biden was too old for the presidency, but she implied that age will be taken into account by voters.
“I don’t think ageism has any place in our thinking. But I do think that the American people obviously know what the statistics are,” She said.
According to a recent poll The Associated Press reports that most Americans (including most Democrats) don’t want him back to run.
Williamson stated that Williamson will also be a part of the new initiative. “absolutely” Compete in the New Hampshire Primary, even though the Granite State was removed from traditional places on the primary calendar.
New Hampshire election law requires that both Republican and Democratic must hold primary elections for the presidency one week prior to any other states. Iowa also has a caucus system, which allows Iowans the opportunity to vote for their choice candidates prior to New Hampshire’s primaries.
New Hampshire state officials as well as Democrats pledge to follow existing law, hold primary first regardless of circumstances, though defying DNC’s new calendar exposes the state Democratic Party for possible sanctions, such losing half of its delegates.
“Joe Biden and the power brokers at the DNC in Washington think New Hampshire’s time is up, but it’s not in our DNA to take orders from Washington,” Gov. Chris Sununu (a Republican) wrote on Twitter. “New Hampshire will be going first in 2024.”
