Man Whose Daughter Was Killed by Illegal Alien Joins ICE in Key Role
Joe Abraham, who lost his 20-year-old daughter Katie in a drunk-driving incident caused by an illegal alien, has taken on a new role to support others affected by similar tragedies. He now oversees the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) within ICE, aiming to advocate for victims and their families. Abraham’s motivation stems from his personal loss-his daughter Katie was killed by Julio Cucul-Bol,an illegal immigrant involved in a drunk-driving hit-and-run. Bol was sentenced to 30 years in prison, but Abraham criticizes the immigration system and sanctuary laws for allowing such individuals to remain free, blaming political leaders for systemic failures. Abraham’s work also involves raising awareness about the impact of illegal immigration on public safety, and he is recognized for being an outspoken critic of sanctuary policies. His efforts are supported by the White House, and he intends to use his tragic experience to ensure victims are heard and treated with dignity amidst ongoing debates about immigration enforcement and safety.

Now, the grieving father has taken on a new role that will allow him to help others in the group known as “Angel Families.”
According to Fox News, Abraham will now oversee Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement, the victims’ support office inside Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“I am excited to accept the Executive Director role at VOICE because this is not simply a government position for me, it is deeply personal and rooted in a mission I have come to understand through unimaginable loss,” Abraham said in a statement, according to Fox.
In a video tribute to his daughter posted by the Department of Homeland Security, which houses ICE, Abraham described Katie as a spirited young woman with an engaging personality.
“Her sense of humor was incredible,” he said. “Her wit was so sharp.”
According to a DHS news release, criminal illegal alien Julio Cucul-Bol killed Katie and her friend, Chloe Polzin, in a drunk-driving hit-and-run in January 2025.
According to an October 2025 report from WCIA-TV in Champaign, Illinois, Bol was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the crash that killed the two young women.
“Katie’s death was preventable,” Abraham said, according to the DHS release. “She was killed by a man, Julio Cucul-Bol, who entered and remained in our country illegally. He was using multiple aliases, exploiting gaps in an overwhelmed and disorganized immigration system. Illinois’ sanctuary law allowed this monster to roam free. He should have been removed long before he could take my daughter’s life.”
The grieving father blamed politicians.
“It would be unjust and unreasonable to separate my family’s loss from the policies that failed us,” he added. “We did everything right. We worked hard, obeyed the law, paid our taxes and trusted that government would protect us in return. That trust was broken. Our leaders — from the governor’s office on down — have not treated immigration as a matter of public safety or national security.”
In September, DHS honored the two victims by launching Operation Midway Blitz, which targeted illegal aliens in Illinois.
Meanwhile, Abraham will now use his personal tragedy to help others.
“I want to use my experience, my voice and what I have learned through Katie’s story to make sure victims and their families are heard, treated with dignity and never become an afterthought in our immigration system,” he said, according to Fox.
White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis said Abraham is particularly suited to be the public face of VOICE.
“Angel Dad Joe Abraham is the perfect choice to lead the VOICE office,” she said, according to Fox. “Since the murder of his daughter, Katie, in a drunk driving hit-and-run in sanctuary Illinois, he has been a staunch advocate for victims of illegal alien crime and a powerful critic of the Democrats’ sanctuary policies.”
Democrats, of course, have regularly demonstrated public indifference toward victims’ families.
At the 2024 State of the Union, for instance, then-Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene had to force then-President Joe Biden to speak the name of Laken Riley, a young Georgia woman murdered by an illegal alien. Biden responded by using the wrong name.
Then, in early 2025, when President Donald Trump spoke to Congress, Democrats snubbed both Riley’s family and the family of Jocelyn Nungary, a 12-year-old girl raped and murdered by illegal aliens in Texas.
Since then, Democrats have slandered ICE agents and physically resisted efforts at immigration enforcement. Some of that resistance has taken the form of terrorist-like threats.
