Man who destroyed Trump sign in viral video will be charged, says DA.
A Trump Supporter’s Sign Destroyed: Charges to be Filed
A North Carolina prosecutor has announced that charges will be filed in the case of a Trump supporter whose sign was destroyed.
According to WRAL, John Kane, a prominent Republican businessman, had his “Trump Won” sign first kicked by a male cyclist and then set on fire a few days later.
Kane had captured videos of both incidents.
Misdemeanor Charges to be Filed
Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman announced on Monday that the suspect will face misdemeanor charges for the incident.
Freeman stated that the suspect will be charged with two counts of misdemeanor injury to real property, as reported by the News & Observer.
The suspect’s identity will not be publicly disclosed until he has been officially served, Freeman added.
Kane had offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, as mentioned in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Some individuals argued that a misdemeanor charge was not sufficient.

In a video shared on Rumble, Kane expressed his dissatisfaction with the charges.
“This man could have killed my children,” he stated.
“By your actions in this instance, you deserve no respect, and you are certainly not doing what’s right,” he addressed Freeman in the video.
Kane believed that the suspect should be charged with arson.
“He didn’t give a damn. Neither do you,” he continued to address Freeman in the video. “You’re no better than him.”
“The audacity of that is frightening,” Kane told WRAL after his sign was destroyed. “There are lots of signs I see I don’t care for. But I’ve not set one on fire.”
He also mentioned that he promptly replaced the sign.
