BREAKING: POLL: Biden’s Approval Rating At 100-Day Mark Lowest Of Any President Since 1945

President Joe Biden’s approval rating at the 100-day mark of his presidency is the “third-lowest” since tracking began in 1945, according to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll.

“All told, 52% of Americans in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll approve of Biden’s work in office, lower than any president at 100 days in office since 1945, save Gerald Ford in 1974 (48%, after his unpopular pardon of Richard Nixon) and Donald Trump at 42% in 2017,” ABC News reported. “For the 14 presidents from Truman to Biden, the 100-day average is 66%.”

“Biden’s honeymoon appears to be ending, if it was even there in the first place,” ABC political director Rick Klein said. “What’s so striking here is, you can at the same time say President Biden is in so much stronger position than his predecessor, but so much weaker than almost everyone else that we’ve seen at this point in a presidency.”

One factor that likely played a major role in the difference between the approval rating that Biden and Trump received at the 100-day mark in their presidencies is the media coverage that each received.

“During his first three months in office, the broadcast evening newscasts have showered Biden with 59% positive press,” the Media Research Center reported. “Four years ago, those same programs were hammering Trump with 89% negative press — a stunning contrast.”

Keeping Biden’s rating barely above water was the 65% approval rating that Americans gave him on his handling of the pandemic. However, those involved with the Trump administration’s historic Operation Warp Speed, which produced a vaccine in record time, say that Biden deviated little from what the prior administration was doing in regards to vaccines.

“I am so tired of the continuing lies that @potus inherited a #COVID19Vaccine mess, when in fact 99% of current vaccine manufacturing and distribution is EXACTLY as planned and explicitly described by Trump Administration’s Operation Warp Speed,” former HHS Assistant Secretary for Health Admiral Brett Giroir, the federal official overseeing coronavirus testing efforts, wrote on Twitter earlier this year.

“But support for his $2 trillion infrastructure package slips to 52%, as does his rating for handling the economy; and he has just 37% approval for his work on the immigration situation at the U.S.-Mexico border,” ABC News added. “More broadly, 53% express concern that Biden will do too much to increase the size and role of government in U.S. society. Relatedly, 40% see him as “too liberal,” more than either of his most recent Democratic predecessors at 100 days – Barack Obama, 33%, and Bill Clinton, 26%. (This rose for Obama later in his presidency.)”

Biden promised to unite the country, but Republican leaders in Congress, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), have said that they have not talked to or met with Biden. The ABC News/Washington Post poll found that 60% of Americans “prefer to see Biden try to win Republican support by making major changes to his proposals.”
