‘Made The Difficult Decision’: Country Legend Reba McEntire Postpones Handful Of Shows Per Doctor’s Orders

Country legend Reba McEntire decided to cancel a handful of shows on her current tour after being advised by doctors to take it easy and get some vocal rest.

The 67-year-old singer on Wednesday shared the news on her social media platforms. The affected stops on her “REBA: LIVE IN CONCERT tour” include Columbus, Ohio; Raliegh, North Carolina; and Indianapolis, Indiana.

“An update about this weekend’s shows,” McEntire shared in her message. “My doctor has advised me to go on vocal rest, so I have made the difficult decision to reschedule this weekend’s shows.”

“All tickets will be honored for the new dates,” she added, listing the new December dates of the rescheduled shows.

The “Fancy” hitmaker concluded her post with a message that read, “Thank you for understanding! Love Reba.”

Earlier this year, McEntire shared an update on her website about extending her tour into 2023 after selling out numerous venues.

“I am very grateful we’re continuing this tour on into 2023,” Reba’s message read. “I’ve had so much fun being back out on the road and doing what I love to do most, entertaining people. And now getting to headline places like Madison Square Garden and bring my buddies Terri Clark and The Isaacs with me?”

“Well, that’s just the extra icing on an already triple-layered, stuffed and filled, iced and frosted cake!” she added.

The superstar singer was previously scheduled to appear at the 2022 Country Music Association Awards show on November 9, the Tennessean reported. No word yet on whether she will be there or not. The six-time CMA Award winner and Country Music Hall of Fame member is scheduled to perform along with a handful of other country stars like CMA Entertainer of the Year Luke Combs and 14-time CMA Award-winner Chris Stapleton.

In October, Reba was one of the numerous stars who shared tributes on social media to country legend Loretta Lynn following news the singer had died at her home in Tennessee. Lynn was 90.

“Mama and Loretta Lynn were four years apart, Mama being the oldest,” McEntire captioned her post on Instagram, referencing her mother, Jacqueline, who died in 2020. “They always reminded me a lot of each other. Strong women, who loved their children and were fiercely loyal.”

“Sure makes me feel good that Mama went first so she could welcome Loretta into the hollers of heaven!” McEntire added. “She was always so nice to me. I sure appreciate her paving the rough and rocky road for all us girl singers.”
