Lol: Adam Kinzinger Joins CNN

Adam Kinzinger After his tenure as one of the most outspoken anti Trump lawmakers on Capitol Hill, he quickly found a new gig as a cable news pundit. 

CNN announced Wednesday that Kinzinger had officially resigned from Congress after deciding not to run for reelection in 2022 midterms. He has since joined the network as a senior commentator on politics. 

Kinzinger became a CNN contributor in his debut on “Erin Burnett Outfront.”

“Congressman, we really are thrilled to have you onboard. Welcome,” CNN anchor Erin Burnett spoke to the ex-lawmaker.

“It’s great to be on the team, by the way,” Kinzinger replied. “Thank you. I’m excited.”

Kinzinger, one the legislators on the House Jan. 6 Committee, was a regular guest on CNN for the past two years. He was invited on-air to attack former President Trump, and the majority of Republicans.

Critics long believed that Kinzinger’s antiTrump comments signaled his desire for a liberal news network at his term’s end.

Many people mocked Kinzinger’s career move, now that he is a CNN pundit. 

“Hahahahahahaha,” radio host Dana Loesch reacted. 

“In a shock to literally no one,” Tim Young, political satirist, wrote. 

“Nobody saw this coming. Nobody,” William A. Jacobson, Cornell Law Professor, and Media Critic, sarcastically tweets

“Was basically giving CNN his resume for the past year,” Axios reporter Tim Baysinger quipped. 

“It’s the least CNN could do after his 2-year apprenticeship there,” Chuck Ross, Washington Free Beacon reporter, mocked the announcement. 

“Quick turnaround,” Alex Weprin, the Hollywood Reporter media writer, pointed this out.  

“And folks thought CNN+ was going to be rock bottom for that network,” Comfortably Smug, cohost of Ruthless podcast, laughed.

“Hustled out his integrity, country and voters in exchange for TeeeVeee time to sound like a random lib,” political commentator Yossi Gestetner tweeted. 

“I guess it’s nice to see someone land their dream job,” GOP strategist Matt Whitlock wrote.

“I know it’s a cliché for a lot of people to say they’re only doing this for a media contract. It also turns out to be true most of the time,” Stephen L. Miller, host of Versus Media Podcast, tweeted.

Kinzinger was among the ten GOP lawmakers that supported former President Trump’s Following the events of Jan. 6, impeachment 

In October 2021, the former Illinois representative announced that he was retiring. However, redistricting would have made it difficult for him to re-elect himself. 

He joins CNN’s so-called “Top 100” list. “Never-Trump Republicans” Ana Navarro, Alyssa Fah Griffin, and former Rep. Charlie Dent.
