LeAnn Rimes Postpones Shows Because Of ‘Bleed’ On Vocal Cord

LeAnn Rimes has postponed some of her upcoming performances at the insistence of her doctor, who said she has a “bleed” on her vocal cord.

The 40-year-old singer shared the news with a handwritten note posted Thursday to Instagram. 

“It completely and utterly breaks my heart to have to announce that I will be rescheduling this weekend’s shows,” the note said. 

“While sick with the flu, my doctor discovered a bleed on my vocal cord, caused by the violent cough that came along with being sick. I am getting better, but I am unable to talk or sing … doctor’s orders!” Rimes continued.

She then encouraged her fans to keep an eye out for rescheduling information on the canceled shows.

Rimes’ “JOY: The Holiday Tour,” featuring songs from her album “god’s work,” began December 2 and will tentatively resume December 16 after the singer has had time to recuperate, per CNN. 

In 2023, Rimes will be playing at The Ryman in Nashville, Tennessee, on April 8 and at The Riverside Casino and Golf Resort in Iowa on September 29.

Her announcement comes on the heels of another famous singer, Celine Dion, announcing her diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome (SPS), an autoimmune disorder that leaves victims as “human statues” who cannot walk or talk, as The Daily Wire previously reported.

“I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time and it’s been really difficult for me to face my challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through,” she said. “Recently I’ve been diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder called the stiff-person syndrome which affects one in a million people.”

Dion said her condition has made it a challenge to sing. “… Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to.”
