Leading Child Psychiatrist Says 4 Out of 5 Children With “Gender Confusion” Grow Out of It

Riittakerttukaltiala, a Finnish professor, advised Finland not to lower the minimum age for changing one’s gender to 18 years. Kaltiala believes that most children will outgrow their gender confusion by the time they reach adulthood, even if they have other mental health problems.

Finnish outlet Helsingen Sonomat Recently, Kaltiala was interviewed by us as a professor of youth psychology. Tampere UniversityThat was the opinion of a child, according to. “the construction of identity is just underway and the final outcome of the development is not known, not even for the young person.”

Kaltiala has been studying gender ideologies since 2011. He even met most of the patients admitted to another Helsinki clinic. The professor said that four out five children will identify as having the opposite sex.

Professor says that three quarters of patients have serious mental health issues. This issue is also caused by learning difficulties, developmental problems, as well as concerns regarding child protection.

Kaltiala also stated that the notion that transgender youth need hormone treatment and gender confirmation to prevent self-harm was a myth.

“It’s purposeful disinformation, the spreading of which is irresponsible,” Kaltiala adds that suicidal behaviour is often a result accompanying psychiatric disorders.

Kaltiala states that gender confusion is a well-known phenomenon. She advises that parents give their child some peace of mind and monitor the situation to treat anxiety as it develops.

“Acceptance is saying that you are a boy who feels like you are a girl. It’s okay and you can be who you are and let’s see what happens when you grow up,” Kaltiala says.

According to the psychologist’s belief, affirming a child’s gender through changing their legal status will push them in this direction. “it’s a message in the direction that this is the right path for you.”

Transgenderism is an indication that a person may be permanently transgender, according to the professor. This happens when a child has an early identification with the opposite sex and it becomes stronger during puberty. Kaltiala suggests that they should not restrict their gender expression, but it shouldn’t be confirmed.

“The young person tries out different identities and is prone to suggestion. In one situation he feels that he is one and in another another. It’s normal in adolescence,” She elaborates.

“Youth development tasks are not promoted by supporting and guiding the youth’s self-expression from the outside,” says Kaltiala.

Professor says that the number of children who identify as the opposite gender since 2015 has increased tenfold.
