Thousands Gather to Support Trump
PALM BEACH, Fla.—Larry Snowden, president of Palm Beach-based Club 47 USA, and leader of the nation’s largest grassroots club supporting former President Donald Trump, was disquieted as he headed toward the Miami courthouse where Trump would make history in an unenviable way.
But as Snowden drove from his home in Boca Raton, Florida, about 45 miles away from the courthouse, he was uplifted by what he witnessed.
“I saw thousands of people out supporting President Trump. I only saw one person that was anti-Trump,” Snowden told The Epoch Times on June 14, a day after Trump pleaded not guilty to 37 federal charges.
Despite later seeing video footage of opposition to Trump, Snowden contends that those who were not in total support of the former president were few and far between.
Placards and Flags
As Snowden drove through Miami, he saw people waving placards, Trump flags, and American flags lining both sides of the streets.
“Just seeing that in a city that’s not known to be an ultra-conservative city was refreshing,” Snowden said. “Seeing people with tears in their eyes was just very moving to me.”
Miami is a subtropical urban community that leans Democrat, aligned with Biden. However, many other parts of Florida are dominated by Republicans.
Among the 1.5 million voters in Miami-Dade County, about 436,000 are Republican, 544,000 are Democrat, and 482,000 have no party affiliation, according to state data. The Republican governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, is widely considered to be Trump’s most formidable challenger for the GOP’s nomination.
Snowden believes that Trump’s popularity has made him a target for those who want to sabotage his re-election campaign.
“There’s no doubt in my mind that this is an effort to interfere with the election. And the extent that the Left will go to try to accomplish their objectives is the worst example of the Left’s election interference that I’ve ever witnessed in my lifetime,” said Snowden.
While Snowden acknowledges that media coverage of Trump may not always be favorable, he believes that fair and balanced coverage should be expected. Unfortunately, he finds this to be a rarity, especially when it comes to Trump.
