Law Enforcement Apprehends Active Shooter Who Was Barricaded Inside Texas Elementary School

Law enforcement has apprehended an active shooter who was barricaded inside Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, just under 100 miles west of San Antonio.

According to a tweet from Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (CISD), “There is an active shooter at Robb Elementary. Law enforcement is on site. Your cooperation is needed at this time by not visiting the campus. As soon as more information is gathered it will be shared. The rest of the district is under a Secure Status.”

A message sent out to parents from the school district read, “Please know at this time all campuses are under a Lockdown Status due to gunshots in the area. The students and staff are safe in the buildings.”

Fox News reporter Bill Melugin spoke to local authorities, adding, “There has been a shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX. @TXDPS and Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin tell me one person has been shot and the shooter ran to the school. DPS says the shooter is still barricaded inside the school right now.”

Fox News anchor John Roberts clarified, noting that the actual shooting appeared not to have taken place at the school but that the shooter had gone into the school in an effort to “evade authorities.”

An updated Facebook post from local authorities indicated that the alleged shooter has been apprehended and taken into custody and that a reunification site has been set up for students who were at the school.

“Robb Elementary Parents, please do not pick up students at this time. Students need to be accounted for before they are released to your care. You will be notified to pick up students once all are accounted for,” the district posted at 12:55 p.m. CT, according to ABC News.
