Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert Calls for Adam Schiff’s Resignation

According to Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, there is one word that perfectly describes Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff of California: Liar.

Boebert made her remarks during a House debate on a resolution to censure Schiff. In a video posted on Twitter, she stated, “If Adam Schiff has a shred of human decency left, he would resign from Congress in disgrace. His tombstone should read, of his failed career in Congress and should be one word: Liar.”

Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida, who sponsored the resolution, accused Schiff of spreading false narratives and sowing division across the country. She stated, “Schiff ripped apart American families across the country with repeated false narratives” and was guilty of “sowing lasting division across our land,” according to The Washington Post.

The resolution to censure Schiff was not tabled, with a vote of 208-218 in favor of moving forward with the censure. Roll Call reported that 20 Republicans who previously voted to table a similar resolution voted in favor of censuring Schiff this time.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy expressed confidence that the resolution will pass, stating, “I expect it will pass, yes,” according to CNN.

The resolution accuses Schiff of spreading false accusations about the Trump campaign colluding with Russia. It also highlights his false denial of staff communication with a whistleblower during the first impeachment of President Trump.

The resolution calls for Schiff to be censured for misleading the American public and for conduct unbecoming of a member of the House. It also requests an investigation by the House Committee on Ethics into Schiff’s falsehoods, misrepresentations, and abuses of sensitive information.

Schiff responded to the censure efforts by stating that he would consider it a badge of honor to be censured by a GOP-majority House. He emphasized his effectiveness in exposing corruption and leading the first bipartisan vote to remove a president in U.S. history during the first impeachment trial of former President Trump.
