Kyle Rittenhouse Goes Viral With 2nd Amendment Posts As President Joe Biden Pushes Curbing Gun Rights

Kyle Rittenhouse on Thursday posted two viral tweets pushing back on calls for so-called common sense gun control measures in the wake of the tragic Uvalde, Texas, school shooting.

Rittenhouse fatally shot two rioters and injured a third while defending himself against attackers during a Black Lives Matter protest that devolved into a riot during the summer of 2020. The teen was facing life in prison with no chance at parole, but a jury found him not guilty.

“‘The right of people to keep and bear arms shall NOT be infringed,’ Joe,” Rittenhouse said via Twitter, seemingly making a reference to President Joe Biden and his speech concerning efforts to curb Americans’ gun rights.

“I am alive today because I was able to protect myself,” he added in a follow-up post.

Following last year’s verdict, Rittenhouse similarly asserted, “Self-defense is not illegal, and I believe they came to the correct verdict, and I’m glad that everything went well.”

Biden on Thursday called for “red flag” laws nationwide and a ban on “assault weapons.”

“We need to ban assault weapons and high capacity magazines. And if we can’t ban assault weapons, then we should raise the age to purchase them from 18 to 21,” the president said. “Strengthen the background checks, enact safe storage laws and ‘red flag’ laws. Repeal the immunity that protects gun manufacturers from liability. Address the mental health crisis deepening the trauma of gun violence, and as a consequence of that violence.”

“These are rational, common-sense measures,” he claimed. “Here’s what it all means. It all means this: We should reinstate the assault weapons ban on high capacity magazines that we passed in 1994 with bipartisan support in Congress and the support of law enforcement.”

Following the Uvalde shooting, Daily Wire emeritus and bestselling author Ben Shapiro slammed cynical efforts from the Left to curb gun rights.

“‘Common sense gun reform’ is in reality what the Left wrongly believes ‘thoughts and prayers’ is for the Right: an empty phrase denoting ‘I care’ but without any actual problem-solving content,” Shapiro posted via social media.

“Not one of the ‘common sense gun reform’ proposals the Left proposes would stop shootings like Uvalde. They know this. So instead, they make absurd claims suggesting that the mere fact of action of any type will magically reduce shootings (see, e.g., Sen. Murphy),” he added.
