Kyle Rittenhouse recently shed light on the tumultuous events that unfolded during his appearance at the University of Memphis, where protesters vehemently disrupted his speech.
“We didn’t want the people at the event to know when I was leaving because we did not want to give them an opportunity to mobilize and start shutting down the roads, making a security risk for me,”
Rittenhouse, speaking on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle following his engagement at the Turning Point USA event, revealed that the disruption began just minutes into his prepared remarks. Despite the challenging circumstances, he valiantly attempted to engage with the protesters and field their questions before departing with his security team.
University’s Role in the Disruption
Expressing disappointment in the University of Memphis, Rittenhouse highlighted how the institution’s decision to revoke Turning Point USA’s ticketing system and implement its own scheme paved the way for premeditated disruption.
“What happened yesterday was the University of Memphis revoked Turning Point USA’s ticketing system and alerted the protesters before anybody else, allowing them to book all the tickets and potentially harass me,”
Outside the event center, around two hundred protesters brandished signs with incendiary messages aimed at Rittenhouse. The hostile atmosphere escalated as some demonstrators even pursued event attendees, blocking vehicles in the vicinity.
