White House Press Secretary Responds to AOC’s Criticisms on Immigration
In a recent interview with The New York Times, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) criticized President Joe Biden’s handling of immigration, calling it one of the administration’s weakest issues. She argued that politics often dictate the policy in this area more than any other.
Ocasio-Cortez specifically pointed out that Biden was not following her recommendations due to fears of approving Republican narratives on immigration. She emphasized the need to address the root causes of migration, which she believes lie in foreign policy.
However, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre defended Biden’s actions, stating that he has done more to secure the border and address immigration than anyone else. She highlighted the significant drop in unlawful border crossings in June, attributing it to the policies put in place by the administration.
According to Jean-Pierre, the president has made efforts to manage the border in a safe and humane way, while also respecting the dignity of every individual. She emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of communities.
