Kim Kardashian advocates for criminal justice reform at the White House, a cause she pursues in every administration

Vice President Kamala Harris hosted reality TV star Kim Kardashian at the White House Thursday to discuss furthering efforts to commute prison sentences for nonviolent offenders across the country.
The meeting follows President Joe Biden’s announcement this week that he has granted clemency to 16 drug offenders.
“I wanna thank Kim for your advocacy and for using your platform in a way that has really lifted up the importance of talking about and being dedicated to second chances,” Harris said to begin the roundtable event.
“I’m just so honored to be here to continue this fight and to learn more every day, every visit, every administration,” Kardashian said. “I’m just here to help and spread the word.”
Kardashian’s first clemency meeting came under the Trump administration. The reality TV star encouraged Harris to continue efforts to make convicts reentry into society “easier” through small-business loans and other policies to help them “realize those dreams.”

She also worked with former President Donald Trump to get the First Step Act passed — a piece of legislation that cuts unnecessarily long prison sentences and improves conditions within prisons. Trump signed the bill into law on Dec. 21, 2018.
These newly-released prisoners have gone on to buy homes thanks to their commuted convictions, receive tattoo removal paid for by Kim Kardashian, and one was even hired by the star to model SKIMS, her line of shapewear.
