Kevin McCullough: Why crime will explode in 2023

Crime will multiply exponentially if you reward criminals by imposing fewer penalties.

Also, mark January 1, 2024 as a date on your calendar.

A new law is now in effect, effective January 1, 2023. This law will have a significant impact on Illinois and Chicago.

It is sometimes called “The ‘Secret of the Universe”. “the most dangerous law in America.” All of this for a good reason.

The new law is closely related to criminal “reforms” They have been in place for two years in New York. It aims to “right the wrongs” Of “unfair” law enforcement to support those who were previously excluded.

This is basically a way to say the woke left wants to bring down effective police enforcement in another large state, create chaos and allow that environment to foster their culturally marxist ideals.

We’ve seen the pattern across the nation. It is time to change the criminal code enforcement so that offenses that were once considered serious crimes are now simple misdemeanors.

In other words if you can’t get cities to defund the police directly, create such a difficult job for them that they more or less quit doing the job they do best: stopping crime and protecting citizens.

And while they’ve been very unsuccessful in getting actual police departments to lose funding, they have been moderately effective at installing DA’s who just refuse to enforce the laws as written.

And now a couple of states they’ve been most effective at getting “criminal reforms” passed and laws changed so that criminals en masse don’t have a healthy fear of committing crime.

With its landmark building, New York was the first to do this. “bail reform” law passed, boasting about how fair it was for those who had been discriminated by the system. New York, now a decade after it was passed, is a crime-ridden tenement that smells of marijuana. Blind assaults on innocent bystanders are routinely committed and there are rotating doors at precinct Booking Offices where criminals are often charged multiple times per hour and then are back on the street, even before the arresting officer has completed their paperwork.

Chicago is already far more dangerous than before the new law was in effect. There are dangerous places that you can’t get lost in, even if they extend across large swathes of Chicago’s south side. Chicago sees more shootings than New York City every year in the same time frame.

NYC has not been further threatened by the NYPD’s effectiveness. They are still shedding staff with more early retirements and burnout and, sadly, more murders and suicides of police officers than they have ever seen in a generation.

Even though NYC is far off the mark of its all time worst years with more than 2000 murders per year, there’s still a reason(s) for why the rate is double or triple it’s safer years on record.

All Illinois needed to do was to observe the criminal reform law’s impact on New York, and they should have run for the hills.

Instead the woke, racially biased, progressive power mongers in Chicago city hall, and the Governor’s mansion pushed a worse version onto an already more dysfunctional state.

It is clear that leftism does not destroy or make anything it touches worse.

Don’t believe me?

The new law is so harsh that a criminal in house arrest has to be absent from his confinement “home” For more than 48 hours, the police cannot find the suspect and remand him in custody.

You don’t know how far a hardened criminal could go in 48 hours.

Progressives in other states and cities — particularly blue ones — are readying efforts to implement similar measures.

One Illinois sheriff’s department officer observed that if police won’t deal with the crime, citizens will be forced to.

Given the amount of free flowing guns that are already in the hands of gang members that will now hunt enemies down—citizens will be forced to.

Sadly I don’t believe this will be a very happy new year for Illinois, Chicago or the citizens held captive to their idiotic leadership.

I pray I’m proven wrong.
