June Social Security direct payment worth $994 goes out in five days

June 2026 Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments-up to $994-are scheduled to be sent to eligible recipients in about five days. SSI benefits are normally distributed on the first day of each month and are intended for people with limited income who are blind, age 65 or older, or have a qualifying disability.

The exact payment amount depends on factors such as filing status and who applies. For instance, individuals may receive up to $994, couples filing jointly up to $1,491, and people providing essential care to SSI recipients up to $498.

To receive SSI, recipients must meet the program’s standard eligibility requirements and also be U.S. citizens or qualifying noncitizens under specific immigration classifications. They must live in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or the Northern Mariana Islands, and they generally cannot be outside the United States for an entire calendar month or for 30 consecutive days. A full SSA payment schedule is available on the Social Security Administration website.
