Jon Ossoff boasts $20 million fundraising haul

Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) raised $20 million in the second quarter of this year for his reelection campaign, substantially outperforming his Republican opponent, Mike Collins, who raised $2.1 million. Ossoff’s campaign reported having $42 million in funds on hand, with nearly 90% of donations being $100 or less, averaging $42 per contribution. This fundraising success positions Ossoff to challenge Collins in the upcoming November Senate race, where Ossoff currently leads in polls by approximately 4 to 13 percentage points, despite Georgia having been won by Donald Trump in 2024. Collins’s campaign claims support from local residents, whereas Ossoff’s campaign highlights grassroots momentum and out-of-state donations. The Georgia Senate race is notable for its national attention, and Ossoff’s campaign aims to defeat what it describes as Republican dark money efforts. Additional context includes comparisons to other Democratic contenders’ fundraising totals and recent polling that favors OssoffS lead. The upcoming Federal Election Commission filing will provide further details on Ossoff’s finances.

Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) has secured $20 million in fundraising during this year’s second quarter for his reelection campaign, outpacing his Republican opponent in the general election by nearly 10 times.

Confident in its latest fundraising haul, Ossoff’s campaign announced the incumbent has $42 million in the bank as of Wednesday. Nearly 90% of the donations from April through June were $100 or less, the campaign said. The average contribution was $42.

The donations will help Ossoff go up against Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA), the GOP nominee in the Senate race, in November. Collins only raised $2.1 million in the past three months and has about the same amount on hand.

“The Ossoff campaign is building unstoppable grassroots momentum to push back against Republican dark money, power our massive and winning coalition over the next four months, and resoundingly defeat Trump loyalist Mike Collins at the ballot box come November,” Ossoff campaign manager Ellen Foster told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

In a statement dismissing its financial disadvantage, Collins’s campaign claimed the Democratic senator relies on out-of-state donors while the Republican challenger has the support of ordinary Georgia residents.

“Mike Collins’ support comes from everyday Georgians because they know he will always put Georgia first,” Collins campaign manager Josh Siegel said.

The Federal Election Commission filing showing Ossoff’s finances will be made available later Wednesday.

Ossoff’s second-quarter fundraising haul comes about $10 million below the figure attributed to Democratic Texas state Rep. James Talarico, who outraised Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton by a significant margin ahead of their election showdown in November. Talarico raised $30 million in the last three-month period, compared to Paxton’s $9 million sum.

JON OSSOFF FUNDRAISES ON REPORT TRUMP WILL ‘REHEAT’ CONSPIRACIES ABOUT 2020 ELECTION IN GEORGIA

The Senate race in Georgia is one of the more unique midterm elections this year, considering President Donald Trump won the state in 2024. Trump endorsed Collins before he won the Republican primary runoff election last month.

Ossoff is leading Collins by nearly 4 percentage points, according to a Wick poll published this week. Ossoff’s lead extended to 13 points in a separate Fox News survey, with the incumbent clinching a clear majority over Collins.
