John Kirby ‘not aware’ of violent protests ahead of Trump’s possible indictment

National Security Council spokesman John Kirby mentioned that the White House doesn’t have any knowledge of violent protests emerging regarding former President Donald Trump’s declaration of being arrested on Tuesday.

“We are continuously monitoring the situation here, but we do not want to see any activity growing violent. Certainly, nothing like we saw on January 6. However, we are watching this and will keep a close eye on it,” Kirby stated in an interview on Fox News Sunday.

“We want to see if there are peaceful protests or any kind of protest about any issue, be it about this or not,” he added.

Kirby added that in case there are protests taking place, there are security measures in place, responding to a statement made by Trump on his Truth Social account on Saturday morning.

“Illegal leaks from a corrupt and highly political Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, which has allowed new records to be set in violent crime and whose leader is funded by George Soros, indicate that, with no crime being able to be proven, and based on an old and fully debunked (by numerous other prosecutors!) fairytale, the far and away leading Republican candidate and former president of the United States of America, will be arrested on Tuesday of next week,” Trump wrote on his social media platform this weekend. “Protest, take our nation back.”

Trump has criticized multiple times the Manhattan district attorney’s office’s investigation into hush-money payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016. Several reports suggest that Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg is ready to indict Trump on criminal charges, which means that it would be the first time a former United States president would face an indictment.

Bragg’s case revolves primarily around whether Trump fabricated business records to list reimbursement payments as legal fees.

Kirby stated that currently, there are no reports of potential violence related to the former president’s call for people to “protest.”

“I’m not aware of any signs of preparing for that kind of activity, specifically with respect to those comments,” Kirby said. “But obviously, we work hand in glove with local and state authorities all around the country, and we’ll continue to keep a close eye on this as best we can.”

Bragg sent an email to employees on Saturday evening stating they “do not tolerate attempts to intimidate our office or threaten the rule of law in New York.”
