John Kennedy teases 2028 presidential run if ‘a bunch of goobers’ enter race
Senator John Kennedy from Louisiana has indicated he is considering a presidential run in 2028 if a notable number of candidates enter the race but currently plans to focus on his upcoming reelection. At 74 years old, Kennedy mentioned on Meet the Press that he might pursue the presidency if he feels he is no longer effective as a senator.He did not speculate about challenging Vice President JD Vance in 2028.
Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) said Sunday that he is considering running for president in 2028 if a “bunch of goobers” enter the field but emphasized that he is focused on reelection during the next cycle.
Kennedy, 74, told Kristen Welker on Meet the Press that he would consider a presidential bid if he is no longer “effective” serving in the upper chamber. The senator, who is known for his homespun one-liners, declined to speculate about taking on Vice President JD Vance in 2028.
