Joe Scarborough Claims AR-15s Are ‘Deadlier’ Than The M16s Used During The Vietnam War

May well Scarborough made a weird claim about guns throughout the most recent episode of “Morning Joe. ”

Following several shootings around America , people have already been debating what we can do in order to curb some of the violence we’ve seen unfold. I have routinely cautioned people that we have to stick to the facts, but that will seems to have gone largely overlooked. (POLL: Should Semi-Automatic Weapons Be Banned? The Results Are usually Pure America)

In fact , Scarborough made one of the most insane promises yet when he informed his viewers the AR-15 is somehow deadlier compared to M16s used in Vietnam.

“I’ve mentioned this before, I mentioned it a couple weeks ago, plus I’ll say it once again. This style weapon deadlier than what we had the soldiers carry around during Vietnam, ” Scarborough said in the show Monday morning.

I truly have no clue what the hell Scarborough is certainly talking about, but he is completely wrong about the M16A1, the particular weapon of choice in Vietnam, being “deadlier” than the AR-15s you can get at your local weapon store.

They both make use of the 5. 56 round, however the M16A1 was capable of selective fire using a price of open fire of 700 to nine hundred rounds a minute. That’s an interest rate of fire that is not probable with a semi-automatic weapon.

At this point, it is worth noting the M16A1 did have some jamming problems that triggered problems in the fighting within Vietnam, but is completely unimportant in terms of a debate regarding weapons used in shootings in the united states.

In terms of ability to rapidly open fire the same ammunition, the M16A1’s rate of fire absolutely crushes anything you would ever be able to get out of a good AR-15.

If we’re going to discuss weapons in America, we need to possess a conversation based on facts. Informing people semi-automatic weapons are usually “deadlier” than selective fireplace weapons carried in Vietnam is just not true, especially when referring to rate of fire.
