Joe Concha rips Don Lemon’s ambitions: ‘Who’s asking him? Peter Griffin?’
joe Concha, a Washington Examiner columnist, questioned CNN anchor Don Lemon’s credibility and support for a potential presidential run. Lemon expressed uncertainty about running but said he might if asked, claiming he would be a good president. Concha mocked Lemon’s ambitions, suggesting who would ask him and joking about potential running mates like Jussie Smollett. Lemon also commented on political figures, criticizing Nikki Haley’s age and implying he’s ineligible too run himself based on his own remarks. No candidates have officially announced their bids yet, but names like JD Vance, Marco Rubio, Ron DeSantis, Gavin Newsom, and Josh Shapiro are considered potential frontrunners. Concha further ridiculed Lemon’s claims and past comments, highlighting skepticism about Lemon’s presidential prospects.
Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha questioned former CNN anchor Don Lemon’s potential presidential run and whether the broadcaster has the credibility or support to make a serious White House bid.
“People keep asking me if I’m running for president. And I don’t know; I might. I’m serious. I don’t know; I might because people keep asking me to do it, or if I’m going to do it,” Lemon said on the Can’t Be Censored podcast on Wednesday.

“I look around, and I see the folks who are possibly in the running, and some of them are impressive. Many of them, most of them, are not,” Lemon added.
“I actually think I would be a really good president of the United States,” Lemon said.
“OK, like, you’re being serious?” Can’t Be Censored podcast host Travis Dhanraj said.
“No, I’m being totally serious,” Lemon said.
There have been no formal announcements made by candidates yet. Frontrunner potential candidates include Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Gov. Ron DeSantis (FL) for Republicans. For the Democrats, potential names include Gov. Gavin Newsom (CA) and Gov. Josh Shapiro (PA).
“It’s got quite the ring to it, right? Like ‘President Lemon,’” Concha said on Fox News’s Hannity on Friday.
“You got to love the fact that he says so many people are begging him to run, like what people? Peter Griffin? Homer Simpson? The Situation and Snooki? Like who’s asking him?” Concha said.
“Who’s going to be his running mate, by the way? Jussie Smollett?” Concha added.
Smollett is an actor known for his role on the television show Empire. In 2019, he claimed he was the victim of a racist and homophobic hate crime in Chicago, which police later determined was a hoax.
Lemon became involved when he initially texted Smollett, warning him that Chicago police doubted his story, and then left his own involvement out of his reporting on Don Lemon Tonight.
“The guy who managed to do something that was nearly impossible, get fired by CNN, is fully capable of running the country,” Concha joked.
Concha also criticized Lemon over comments he made about former presidential GOP hopeful Nikki Haley in 2023.
BEN SHAPIRO SAYS VANCE’S APPEARANCE ON ROGAN PUTS HIM IN A WORSE SPOT FOR 2028
“She says people, you know, politicians are suddenly not in their prime. Nikki Haley isn’t in her prime, sorry. When a woman is considered to be in her prime in her 20s, and 30s, and maybe 40s,” Lemon said on air.
“Under Don’s own rules, he’s ineligible to run for president because he believes that women in their 50s are past their prime to do so. He said that about Nikki Haley. He said that on national TV once. So, given that Don’s in his 60s, that’s pretty much strike three right here. He can’t run based on his own rules,” Concha said.
