“It is Balloon!” Joe Biden Should Feel Embarrassed By Spy Overflight From China: The Pentagon admits It has been tracked a Chinese spy balloon U.S. airspace. Let’s be very clear. First, let’s be clear: We should be angry that the government allowed Americans to be taken by surprise. Apparently, this isn’t the first time. Last year, a similar balloon (that hadn’t been formally attributed to China) was spotted off coast of Kauai, near the Barking Sands Missile range, where we test missile interceptors and new radar systems, as well as the submarine school test range. There were also reports of overflights to Guam and Canada.
It is worth asking “Why?” China It is doing this. Beijing always acts with intention. Is this their intention? Initial reports by the Pentagon dismissed the craft’s threat. But they surely know this. Aerostats are becoming more popular among military forces. Team Biden is not paying attention to national security and seems to be ignoring the threat. As serious as the security of the border, the president seems as serious about protecting American airspace.
China’s response to the incident is equally troubling. Beijing seems to believe that Americans are dumb. They assert the balloon is a civilian weather-tracking aircraft—a claim that is This is clearly absurd. Our leaders are being fooled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
The Biden administration should wake up, face reality and take off all the child gloves to ensure our national security. But there’s the rub. The White House doesn’t know how to deal with China.
The Administration views this as a political as well as a security problem. Initial response from the Administration was to downplay the incident. Apparently, Biden said just shoot the thing down—and the Pentagon said hold on, maybe not. However, the administration decided that this was a significant issue after realizing the intrusion was very disturbing for Americans around mid-morning. Things changed, as Secretary Blinken cancelled and postponed a planned trip for Beijing.
This incident shows the serious limitation of Biden’s effort to stabilize relations with China, cooperate on climate policy, and “compete where we must, but cooperate where we can.” He has been blindly following the John Kerry playbook: Please don’t upset China; you might make them mad, and then I can’t jet over there and engage in useless climate dialogue.”
We are seeing more signs that Beijing is trying to reel Biden in like a big fish. China has become less aggressive in recent years. “wolf warrior” Diplomacy was the new trend. Beijing believes it can manipulate the U.S. government through selective engagement.

The White House faces serious challenges. Americans—and many of our allies—are increasingly skeptical of both China and the Administration’s impulse to temper relations with Beijing.
Biden has more to the America problem than that. His grip on global leadership is extremely fragile. Half of our allies, encouraged by Biden’s ambivalence, persist in treating China like a business partner, a competitor, and a security threat all at the same time. The other half, however, are refusing to acknowledge China.
For instance, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have already baled on China’s 17+1 cooperative format. Italy may consider ending its Belt and Road Agreement. Others have banned Huawei, including the UK and Greece. Washington could provide real leadership to these friends.
Biden’s approach is not sustainable. The Administration risks trailing Americans and some critical allies in addressing China’s destabilizing and threatening actions.
