Jim Jordan says subpoena for Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg on the table

Republican Senator Jim Jordan from Ohio declared on Sunday that subpoenaing Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg remains a possible action.

During his appearance on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, Jordan criticized Donald Trump’s indictment and stated that as the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, he could call for Bragg’s testimony at Congress and that he would even go so far as to subpoena him if required.

Jordan confirmed to Maria Bartiromo, the host, that everything was still being considered. “We’re going to talk with the other chairmen and look at the response. We just got his letter back. We’re reviewing that.”

Jordan then insinuated that something “bigger” is happening, noting that he thinks “it’s not an accident that the same week we learned that the IRS knocked on Matt Taibbi’s door while he’s testifying in Congress. That same week is when we learned a district attorney has got a left-wing district attorney, a Soros-backed district attorney…to go after the former president of the United States.”

Jordan also spoke against Trump’s indictment and accused Bragg of wrongdoing. “Well, overall, it’s ridiculous. I mean, first of all, Mr. Bragg has conceded that he used federal funds,” he said. Jordan defended himself against criticisms that Congress shouldn’t be involved in local prosecutorial decisions, arguing that because Bragg used federal funds, Congress has a right to review the case.

Bragg has pushed back against Republican criticisms and accused them of trying to intimidate and interfere in the investigation.
