Jeff Bezos Renews Attack On Biden’s ‘Deep Misunderstanding’ Of Economics In Withering Tweet

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos blasted President Joe Biden again after the commander-in-chief demanded that gas stations lower their prices “and do it now.”

Bezos, a liberal and the owner of the leftist Washington Post, criticized the comment in a tweet that questioned whether Biden understood basic economics. It was the second time in two months that Bezos has weighed in with stinging criticism of Biden.

“Ouch. Inflation is far too important a problem for the White House to keep making statements like this,” Bezos wrote. “It’s either straight ahead misdirection or a deep misunderstanding of basic market dynamics.”

The Biden administration has scrambled to spin soaring pump prices as the fault of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Big Oil, and now gasoline retailers. Critics say the administration has helped create the high gas prices by cutting production in the U.S. in favor of anti-fossil fuel environmental policies.

Biden’s latest bid to blame factors beyond his control for the price of gas, which has topped $5 a gallon in recent weeks, pinned the blame on gas stations.

“My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril,” Biden said. “Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product. And do it now.”

In May, Bezos rebuked Biden on the same issue – inflation. That clapback came after Biden said wealthy companies – presumably including Bezos’ online retail giant Amazon – don’t pay their fair share of taxes.

“You want to bring down inflation?” Biden tweeted. “Let’s make sure the wealthiest corporations pay their fair share.”

Bezos responded by saying Biden was confused on Econ 101. He said the ill-fated Disinformation Governance Board, which the Biden administration was trying to establish at the time, should “review this tweet. or maybe they need to form a new Non Sequitur Board instead.”

“Raising corp taxes is fine to discuss,” Bezos wrote. “Taming inflation is critical to discuss. Mushing them together is just misdirection.”

Biden appears to be alienating the nation’s richest people, as Tesla chief Elon Musk has been increasingly critical of the administration this year, as well.
