Jean-Pierre clashes with disruptive reporter: ‘We can just end the briefing right here’

During a White House press briefing, Karine Jean-Pierre, the press secretary, threatened to end the briefing after being interrupted by a reporter as she introduced the cast of the show Ted Lasso, including actor Jason Sudeikis. Jean-Pierre emphasized the importance of respecting colleagues and guests during briefings and called the reporter’s behavior unacceptable. She stated that the briefing could either continue or end there.

The reporter, Simon Ateba of Today News Africa, has been accused of disrupting Jean-Pierre’s briefings regularly, asking off-topic questions ranging from Africa to speculation about National Security Council spokesman John Kirby replacing her as press secretary.

At one point in the briefing, Ateba accused Jean-Pierre of discrimination because she does not frequently call on him during the briefings. Jean-Pierre responded by giving the ultimatum mentioned earlier.
