Aldean acknowledged the overwhelming support from his fans, stating, ”The people have spoken, and you guys spoke very, very loudly this week.”
The controversy surrounding the song stems from the release of its music video, which critics deemed “racist” and “pro-lynching.” As a result, CMT pulled the video from airwaves. Aldean defended the song, calling the criticism “meritless” and “dangerous.”
Despite the backlash, ”Try That In A Small Town” soared to the top of the all-genre chart and experienced a 999% increase in streams, according to Fox News.
